Tectron Collimating Tools

Sight Tube --The basic mechanical alignment tool for Newtonian telescopes. This tool is necessary for placing the diagonal mirror in the proper place, and aiming the diagonal mirror at the center of the primary.

Cheshire -- Once your diagonal is in the proper place, you are ready for the Cheshire. This tool is probably one of the most used tools of the set. It is used for very close collimating the primary on a Newtonian, either in the daylight or in complete darkness, for those times when you don't set up till late. Simply shine your red flashlight into the opening.

Autocollimator -- This is the final step for collimating your Newtonian. Don't try to use it without first going through the proper steps with the Sight Tube and Cheshire. It won't work! The collimation has to be close to begin with or this tool will frustrate you because it is so critical.
